Event Description
Software Engineering is a fundamental pillar of IT, recognized for its high impact in the scientific and industrial field, mainly because the processes and technologies developed are directly related to the quality of the final software product. The International Workshop on Advanced Software Engineering (IWASE) is the national leading event in the field of Software Engineering. The aim of IWASE is to bridge the gap between academia and the software industry by providing an environment where researchers, academics, undergraduate and graduate students and industry players collaborate, exchange ideas and create knowledge through discussion about their research as well as opportunities for joint cooperation, sharing both cases of success and failure. It has been carried out systematically since 2006, and this year 2017 the seventh edition of IWASE will be in conjunction with the Chilean Computer Conference and the International Congress Infonor-Chile, in the city of Arica
Preliminary Call for Papers IWASE 2017
We call on the academic and software industry communities to submit research and / or application work, describing results of theoretical and / or empirical work, to characterize the state of the practice and its eventual gap with the state of the art
As part of workshop closing, the memories of the event will be generated as final product proposing an agenda to continue gradually increasing academia-industry collaboration
Participants
- Researchers and / or Academics / Pre-and post-graduate students in the area of Software Engineering in Chile and other countries in the region
- Software development companies that have innovated in their processes or products and have relevant experiences for this forum
Topics
The following is a non-exhaustive list of topics pertinent to the event:
- Requirements Engineering
- Human-Computer Interaction
- Software Architecture, Frameworks and Design Patterns
- Component and Reuse based development
- Model Driven Development
- Agile Software Development, Global Software Development
- Verification, Validation and Testing Engineering
- Quality Metrics for Processes and Software Products
- Maintenance and Reverse Engineering
- Software engineering for self-adaptive systems as well as for cyber-physical systems
- Collaborative, Distributed, Concurrent, Embedded, Real-Time, High-Performance, Dependent, Intelligent, and Multimedia Systems
- Software Product Lines
- Ubiquitous and mobile systems
- Recommender systems based on Software Repository Mining
- Emerging Applications
- CASE Tools
- Empirical Studies, Benchmarking and Good Industrial Practices
Contributions to the State of Art
Articles on ongoing theoretical-empirical research are invited, which already have partial results that serve as a basis for opening the discussion among the participants. Industry assistants will be able to enrich the relevance and focus of ongoing research through their own experiences. Contributions to this track should be between 4 and 8 pages in IEEE Conference format (download here), and include theoretical background. The submission is made through easychair (entering here)
Contributions to the State of Practice
Proposals related to innovations in the software development processes in the industry, which have been successful or that have left a set of relevant experiences of sharing (lessons learned), where the attendants of the academy will be able to suggest alternative ways and to compare the Experience with reports already existing in the state of the art. Contributions to this track should be between 4 and 8 pages in IEEE Conference format (download here), including theoretical background. The submission is made through easychair (entering here)
CASE Prototypes Fair
Industry and academia proposals are invited on the construction of CASE tools that support the software process (from text analyzers in the requirements phase to tools that help the packaging of solutions). Contributions to this track should have 2 pages in IEEE Conference format (download here), clearly describing areas of the software process to improve, expected and / or empirically verified benefits, as well as technical conditions for its use. It is suggested to make the tool available for testing and use by Workshop participants prior to the event. The submission is made through easychair (entering here)
Contribution Format
